New Elkhart County Baseball Stadium Receives Commissioners Approval

Elkhart, IN, February 22, 2010--Elkhart-based media company CTT Communications, Inc. received allocation for $5,000,000 in Recovery Zone Facility Bonds today for an estimated $12 million baseball stadium and mixed-use retail, office, and restaurant complex.

Elkhart county commissioners unanimously voted in favor of the request for the project.  Construction is scheduled to begin in the Spring.  The site is at the Pinecreek at 17 development just off the US 20 bypass and CR 17 in Elkhart.Company owner and president Craig Wallin said additional financing for the proposed 2,500-seat stadium and 18 acre site is being generated through a combination of naming rights, advertising, the sale and lease of property at the complex, grants, and debt financing.  The facility is expected to be complete in 15 months, and will be home to a yet-to-be-named summer collegiate league team.

“The CTT Communications group headed by Craig Wallin is on pace to achieve its goal of building a stadium and purchasing the expansion franchise in time for league play to begin in Elkhart (County) in 2011,” says Northwoods League President, Dick Radatz, Jr.  The team's first season will begin in June and continue through at least the second week of August in its inaugural year.

The league recently completed its 16th season.  It plays more games and draws more fans than any other baseball league of its kind in North America.  In the last two Major League Baseball amateur drafts, the Northwoods League had 277 of its players and alumni drafted, while 474 of its former players participate in professional baseball at all levels.  Tampa Bay Rays MVP Ben Zobrist and New York Yankee outfielder Curtis Granderson are two of the most notable current MLB players who have played in the league.

The stadium is also expected to be used for high school and college baseball games, community events, and concerts.  Developers at the site believe the complex could serve as a multiplier of other business and activity in the area, will contribute to local and community-wide pride, and provide affordable family entertainment.

Construction updates, sponsorship opportunities, and season ticket details will be posted periodically at cttcom.com.  For additional information, contact CTT Communications at 574-329-3438.
